February 27, 2015 - First Post

Last year was quite the year for me. My husband and I separated exactly one year ago last week, and since then I've been trying to get my life in order here at my parents house. I've got my son with me thankfully, it takes some of the stress off me as well as stresses me sometimes, considering I've got no real financial means to take care of him on my own if I were to live elsewhere... but having him with me I know that he's eating well, and sleeping well... he's not falling down stairs or unsupervised... It's a real relief to have him with me.

I really want to use this blog as an outlet for my stress as well as keeping track of my weight-loss progression. Having been going through a very hard year, I've had to find an outlet for my stress, and weight-loss has been a big stress reliever for me.

I was looking back at before I was married and pregnant, I weighed around 140lbs. During my pregnancy with my son I gained a little over 60lbs... I have no excuses for overeating as much as I did. I enjoyed eating whatever I wanted, and honestly, I enjoyed the hell out of Whoppers lol. I hit over 200lbs, and I figured once I had Wyatt the weight would go away, cause I was under the impression it was all baby weight, water weight... all  that kinda stuff. You're not told really that the weight will stick with you when you're pregnant. You're told you're eating for two, and to eat relatively healthy, indulge if you wish, you're pregnant so enjoy it.

After I had Wyatt the weight dropped a little bit, but not as much as I was thinking. About a week later I weighed in around 190lbs. I was SHOCKED!

Around February 2012 I went to find out why I kept having what felt like heart attacks (or so I thought), and after a while I was finally told I had Gallstones. They're the result of gaining or losing weight quickly, from eating poorly... I had to start eating a low fat diet while I tried a medication that is used to dissolve the Gallstones. I wasn't given a lot of time to try the medication before they told me I needed to have the surgery to remove my Gallbladder. While on the low fat diet from February to May, I lost 9lbs, weighing 181. A month later, I dropped another 5lbs. When you're new to low fat diets you're not sure what you can eat, especially when you're afraid you'll have an attack from anything you consume. You have to learn to check labels. Anything 5% fat and under (around 2g fat) is edible, anything higher and you risk an attack.

Surgery happened November 2, 2012 & after I got home I had my first bite of a normal pizza since starting the low fat diet, and it was delicious! It didn't take long for me to start eating things full of fat... Candy bars, pizza, lasagna, anything loaded with cheese and grease. Sadly, I discovered that my days of eating like normal were long gone. I kept getting pain similar to that of a Gallstone attack, but of course it's not attacks, it's indigestion. Really really bad indigestion. :(

To this day I can't have normal food without having indigestion badly. This isn't something that can be fixed unless I decide to be on a strong antacid medicine... and I'd rather not spend the money to take that every single day. So slowly I find alternatives for things I want to eat, and choose low fat options to make things like lasagna or pizza..

Today, with a low fat diet, watching my calories (sorta!), and exercising regularly, I'm down to 150lbs and still working on losing more. I'm new to diets and workout plans, but I'm figuring things out slowly to find what works for me.
